Getting Started
1. Create an account
Go to my.nappe.app and click Sign up. Enter your name, email address, and a password (minimum 8 characters). After submitting the form, you'll receive a verification email.
2. Verify your email
Open the email from Nappe and click Verify email. This activates your account and sends you a welcome email. If you don't see the verification email, check your spam folder or use the Resend verification email link on the login page.
3. Explore demo data
When your account is created, Nappe automatically adds demo data to your workspace:
- 8 sample products (chicken breast, mushrooms, cream, etc.)
- 1 demo prep — Mushroom Cream Sauce with yield calculation
- 1 demo technical card — Pan-Seared Chicken with full cost breakdown
All demo items are marked with a purple Demo badge. They're there to show you how everything works — you can edit them, explore the cost calculations, and delete them whenever you're ready from Settings → Advanced → Clear demo data.
4. Recommended workflow
The typical workflow in Nappe follows this order:
- Add products — your raw ingredients with purchase prices and units.
- Create preps (optional) — sub-recipes like sauces, stocks, or marinades that appear as a single line in technical cards.
- Build technical cards — combine products and preps, set portions, and let Nappe calculate cost per portion and food cost %.
- Export to PDF — share with your team or clients.
5. Dashboard
The dashboard gives you an overview of your workspace:
- Stat cards — total cards, preps, products, and projects.
- Alerts — cards with outdated costs (ingredient prices changed) or high food cost %.
- Recent cards — your last updated technical cards with cost data.
- Notes — a freeform text area that auto-saves. Great for quick reminders.
- To-do — a simple task list for your workspace.
