Purchase Orders
A purchase order aggregates the ingredients you need to produce one or more technical cards. Instead of manually calculating shopping quantities, Nappe does it for you — with smart rounding and ingredient deduplication across cards.
Creating an order
Go to Orders in the sidebar and click New order. Give the order a name (e.g. "Week 18 — Spring Menu"), then select the cards you want to produce and set the planned portions for each card.
Planned portions
For each card in the order, you can set how many portions you plan to produce. This may differ from the card's default recipe size. For example, your card is written for 4 portions, but you need 40 — set planned portions to 40.
Nappe calculates a scale factor (planned ÷ recipe portions) and multiplies all ingredient quantities by that factor before building the order list.
Ingredient aggregation
If multiple cards share the same ingredient (e.g. chicken breast appears in two selected cards), their quantities are automatically combined into a single line item. You won't see duplicates in your order list.
Smart quantity rounding
Raw calculated quantities are rounded up to practical purchase amounts:
- Discrete units (pcs, bottle, box, bunch, etc.) — rounded up to the next whole number. You can't buy half an egg.
- kg / L — rounded up to the nearest 0.1 (100 g / 100 ml).
- g / ml — rounded up to the nearest 10.
Order statuses
Each line item in the order can be updated as you source ingredients:
- Pending — not yet ordered
- Ordered — ordered from supplier
- Received — arrived in your kitchen
